How did you choose??
Published 1 year, 6 months ago in My life.My mother brought me up with the lesson- dont discuss politics, religion and dirty jokes in mixed company. So there, Lesssons run hard and stay with you. And as much as I hate politics, I suppose it is an evil neccesity. But ! I say But, how did you become the label that you are?? ( and may I borrow this from lady chaos- labels are for jam jars) Did your father and his father and his fathers father vote labour, and its a bit like barracking for Richmond, is it just your team??? Or can you tell me what your party stands for. Or maybe youre a swinging voter?? what made your mind up……..i’m already smiling, predicting that wet blanket may well vote for family first, and the granary may well be a greenie.

Greenie ? Pah ! I spit on your politics. More likely to vote for the Monster Raving Loony Party.
Seriously, I’m more inclined to vote for personalities rather than parties so I try to find someone who shares similar views to my own on the largest range of topics. After all, this person is supposed to represent my views in parliament. Needless to say its an impossible task so, like most things in politics, in ends in compromise.
I come from a labour family, dad was a union man and would suffer apoplexy if we teased him and said we were voting liberal. I have voted Green on certain issues (franklin dam for one)& the democrats (unfortunately they’ve strayed from Don Chipps original vision) and there have been times when I havn’t voted at all ‘cos of apathy. Trouble is nowdays I don’t thing there any real differences between parties. Though I’m hopping Kev can get the party back to fundamentals.
Much as labels are usually for jam jars, I have my Your Rights At Work badge firmly pinned to my bag on this one - I’m a card carrying Labor Party member. My family is completely non-political though. I just got interested in politics a couple of years ago and really liked what the ALP stands for, and most of their policies, so I joined (and somehow got a pair of ALP socks, of all things). Vote for Kevin!
Ahh, but lady chaos, what is their policy?? You wear those socks with pride girl.
Politics? I vote for the best looking. Looks like I’ll be registering a donkey vote this year - at federal level, that is!!
And you did not listen did you!
‘…predicting that wet blanket may well vote for family first…’
Religion is the root to all evil… therefore you are ‘again’ wrong. You are certainly doing well, and perhaps Dreamer is right you should have listened to your mother.
